How long have you owned your CJ?

How long have you owned your CJ?
Had my CJ5 for longer than my first wife. 8yrs 7 months. Theres a disclaimer on that since the court system has had it for the last two years. The CJ7 a pultry 1 yr 2 months.

My first car was a 67 CJ5 , I sold that with a snow plow and bought my 79 CJ7 new in January with 6 miles on it. So over the 30 years the body went to glass and an after market frame keeps her going.

I have wanted a CJ5 all my life (I'm 50) and I traded a guy out of my first CJ5 on new years eve. I drove it (herded it is more like it) 85 miles home new years eve it was 26 deg and all it had was a bikini top. Froze my *** off. I'll never forget that night, nor will my 14 year old he rode all the way back with me in the Jeep.:notworthy:
The PO had lifted it but had not aligned the front end so the camber/caster was way off. It took 6 deg shims to get it to 0. I could run 40-45 and keep it semi straight. I kept worrying some cop would see me and pull me over thinking I had been drinking.
Anyway I welcomed the new year (2009) driving (herding) my new Jeep home. I LOVE IT!!!!
:chug:

It is funny how you remember the cold nights.
I finally had gotten my Jeep running and this girl I had been talking with wanted to go out in it. I was like, sure!

So, I get in it, drive up to her place (in the daytime) we go out, it is cool, but not too cold. I have Jeans and a t-shirt on. Bikini top on... we have a great day get back to her place and she is like, um, you can't come in... doh!

Anyway, I get in the Jeep to drive home, some highway, some backroad. It is about 30 miles away. The night air had crept in and man o man, the temp dropped like 20 degrees in a couple hours.

I turned the heat on to come out the floor boards, dug up a work long sleeve shirt out of the console, ended uptaking off my socks to put on my hands and wrapped a t-shirt around my head, because on the highway even at 55mph, it was so freaking cold. Each person that drove by laughed, gave me a thumbs up and went on their way.

Funny how you remember the cold ones... or is it just the mental scarring?

LOL.

LOL - It is always the cold ones!

I remember heading to Daytona once for spring break (bout 1982)... The temp was about 38 or so - damn cold for Central Florida. The drive from Orlando to the beach was excruciating but since we were dumb and going to the beach for spring break - we had to have the top off!

Driving down the interstate at 65 mph or so for that hour about killed us. LOL - We all had on shorts and big old thick flight jackets.

Young, stupid and cold - but kewl!!! (so we thought!)

I havnt had any cold experience in my jeep yet, ones apart and ive never driven it and the other ive only had 5 days, and it was rather warm the day we picked it up

I bought the Golden Eagle 3 years ago, just about to the day.
