Hey Guys,

I wanted to get some opinions about correct ignition timing for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l engine with a Howell TBI. Mine's set to 8 from TDC, which Howell recommends, but I've gotten feedback from others who have their timing set even higher like 16.

I'm asking because I've still got some throttle response issues in fourth gear.

Thanks for the help! :)

The timing also depends on your distributor - do you have the vacuum advance on there, and if so, what is the curve set to? How much total from the distributor?

Well, i was told to plug the vacuum advance hose or you won't get an accurate reading. The distributor is just a standard factory model. I haven't upgraded to an MSD HEI.
