I DON't want to roll

So I don't want to roll my amazing cj. One of my friends has his thing that shows if you are close to rolling. It looks like a gauge and has a picture of a jeep. What is that called, and where do I buy one?

Its called a Clinometer or Inclinometer

The one you are thinking about is kinda just a gimmick.
It won't tell you when you are going to roll, and if you are that close to rolling, you had best be looking outside and not staring at the gizmo.

You can find factory units at a salvage yard out of a Mitsubishi Montero/Dodge Raider.

The problem is not every jeep is set-up the same therefor they will roll over at different angles.
Get to know your jeep and your gut will be better than that plastic gismo.
But if you really want to waste your money check with any of the venders that advertise here.

I have one on my Jeep and I never ever look at it when I am actually climbing something. When you are close to rolling the last thing on your mind is that gauge. You can get an app for your ipod and iphone that works pretty good for those times that you are curious. I found a free one and it is pretty cool.

Those things are worthless. People roll their jeep on rough terrain. Its not like they are driving along a trail is smooth but tilted to the side. Watching the inclinometer the driver says "only 3° more tilt and we would roll, so I will stop here"

It takes experience and familiarity with your jeep to keep it from rolling.

HA! They still make those silly things? I think the last time I saw one about 25 years ago. It was on a rolled over Blazer. Save your money for one of those chrome super devices you stick to your fender to warn deer you're coming...........hahahahaha!!!

If you really want one. But, I agree with everyone else, if you are ever in the position where you could possibly roll your CJ, the last thing on your mind is to look at the clinometer.
