:welcome:

Is this the original dash and the original switch. The switch should have a notch for the dash tab in the hole to lock in to stop rotation. If there is no antirotation tab then it a matter of tightening the heck out of the nut or putting something thing to lock it in.

That is an original bezel. About all you can do is tighten the heck out of the locking bezel with a pair of plumbers pliers. Put electrictical or painters tape on the side of the pliers or on the dash so yo don't scratch that very nice paint. (empire blue ish) But it looks like a very nice repaint

Thanks for the info! Problem is.... there as no locking bezel. There is a compression spring on the inside of the dash and the twist bezel of the outer dash. I'm thinking about wiring it up to a push button starter switch. Thoughts?

We have so little information. Can you please supply a lot of images. The back of the switch so we can see the wireing. The more pictures the better.
This is a 55 plus year old vehicle. It is not easy to work on it with so little information.

I did a push button start in my CJ. Here's a write-up on it:

I couldn't quite make it out, but is there a star washer on that cylinder? I have seen these with a star washer that sits on the side behind the dash and then the nut/bezel on the front of the dash. The star washer reduces the chances of spinning when tightened. I have also seen a person use a rubber washer (like from a garden hose end) behind the dash so that when the nut/bezel is tightened on the front, it squeezes the rubber washer behind the dash to provide a tighter "grip".

Thanks for the advice. There is no star washer on the back of the dash, just a compression spring to hold it against the dash. The bezel is a push and twist bezel to hold it in place.....Still rotates.

This reminds me of a song sung when I was in grade school. There is a hole in my bucket dear lisa. Spend the $30 dollars and get a new one.
