I have a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a offenhauser intake & holley 650 (rediculous i know) and two piece headers feeding a knock off flowmaster. Came like that when i bought it. The jeep had a ugly 3.5" body lift on that i took off and now my headers are in the way of my clutch so my soultion is sell everything i mentioned above and get all stock. My first question: do the headers make that much of a difference? Like 2 hp on a torque motor right? And Second question: ive heard flomaster 40s and cherry bombs sound good on these motors. Whats your opinion? I want a roar(as much as a 6 will roar) when i step on it and a rumble when im idling. Thanks.

I run a dual collector header. The exhaust runs out both sides to cherry bomb mufflers. I welded three inch turnouts to the mufflers. It's very loud! But I love it. Even guys on Harleys with loud pipes look over at me when I take off at a red light.

Don't mean to butt in, but when running ur exhaust what's the rule on ending the pipes. Can they be turned out behind the doors, in front of the rear axle, or all the way to the back. And is there anything I can get by with emissions, bring in Texas and having an 83 CJ5

Thx

Can these side pipes fit on a CJ5 and are the fumes bad when idling?

Not to stray too far off topic, but you would have to be turning over 10000 rpm with a VERY efficient engine to warrant a holley 650 cfm carb...

Just saying...
