1983 CJ7 Limited 4.2
So I'm time warping back from 2006 to 1983 with my new 83 CJ7 Limited . It's a nice rust free 2 owner jeep, and mostly stock, but along the way the engine bay has gone a bit afoul of it's original design.

In trying to diagnose a poor starting condition, I've found that there are various emissions equipment hoses going nowhere, and one thing that really worries me, this device that had a cable in the end, and the cable is unattached at the other end. It sits on the driver's side wheel well.

Can anyone identity the part? I'm beginning to miss fuel injection already. :)

Here are some general photos of the Jeep. It's one worth saving!

Looks like something that would be next to all the other smog parts in my trash can! Your jeep looks great! Good luck with it. CJ's rule!!!

The lion’s share of bad running engines can be traced back to vacuum leaks. Also check around the base of the carb for leaks. Could need a carb rebuild too but first check and replace the hoses as needed. Oh, buy the way, nice jeep! :chug:

If it's something that simple, then a definite bonus. My PO had replaced almost everything trying to keep it running longer than 20 minutes but couldn't figure it out. Sold it at a really good price. $40 later, I replaced the ICM and problem solved.
