Ignition coils keep going bad?!?!

wow this is a little over my head. i don't quite see the correlation between the 4wd and the coil??? but at least i learned something there is a switch in the glove box for 4wd on a QuadraTrac equipped jeep

Me too! Quadra trac are supposed to be full time 4 wheel drive but if you get stuck you go to the glove box and use the "emergency drive" knob that actuates a locking device in the T case via vacumm hoses and gets you out of your jam, suposedly.

Jeep QuadraTrac

everything you never wanted to know about quadra track.

but still the only thing I can find that is electrical is the light on the dash, that is where I would start looking.

I think the power side of the Quadra track light is the same circuit as the cigar lighter and a couple other pretty heavy loads so the fuse may be pretty big. The switch on the Transfer Case is, supposedly, a grounding switch like the back up lights. this just gets better and better, I think this is going to be one of those things where we do not have a very important piece of information.

Guys, remember that POs do so much to jeeps wiring, and we are not on site, we only have the posters word, and he states he flippid a switched and it died. So seeig how vacuum is needed to switch the tcase,we need vacuum to switch back, and get the light off. If we were on site it would. Be diferent

Perzactly! I sugest the hand held vacuum pump to try to make it come out of what ever it is in and I like the part about disconnecting the wires from the Transfer Case .
I still want a picture of the coil. I don't see where is is drawing enough current from any place to get hot and quit working. now the ECM on the other hand...
