So I installed a new ignition cylinder last week. While working on some electrical issues I found that the new cylinder would just pull out. Not too sure why. 84 CJ7

Haven't had to do it yet, but this is in the Jeep MR 252 image.webp

Did you install a replacement cylinder assembly or take it apart as shown in diagram from manual ?
The whole assembly is held into place by the torx screw.
The center plug will pull out of the body if it's not orientated correctly during re-assembly.
Taking the core or center plug out of the cylinder body is usually only what a locksmith would do.

Yeah I replaced the whole assembly. Don’t recall taking a torx screw out. But maybe I did. I must have because the old one didn’t pull right out. Now I have to try and locate a screw.
