Anybody got a solution to a ignition switch sticking in the 'ingage starter' position? I replaced the steering lock/ignition switch and sprayed a bunch of WD-40 down the hole. It did improve somewhat, but I still have to manually move the switch back to the non starter position after starting.

I figure it is some crud in the linkage, but am dreading pulling the steering column and all the guts to figure it out. I usually find I should have asked for tips first.

I have the link to the steering column rebuild.

Just thought someone might have had this issue before and solved it without disassembling the column.

Found where it is called the ignition switch 'rack' or actuator. No easy way to get to it.

I would have deleted this post after finding more info if I could..

Has a lot of pertinant info.

I had dirt in every nook and cranny in my jeep when I bought it. I had the same problem and disassembled my column and bathed it with wd40 and got good results. You can take it apart without having to take the whole column out. Where my key switch is, is where most of the dirt was. It seems it gets better the more I use it too, if that helps.
