I just didn't want to start a conundrum with my apparent lack of knowledge. "lift of the lynch lid". an old '70's closing fron National Lampoon magazine meaning tip of the hat.

Turbogas: A bit off topic but I am curious as to the "lift of the lynch lid" line. Goolge & Bing searches, both tying it to National Lampoon and not, have failed to turn up anything but that you frequently use it as your tag line on many and varied forums. Such idioms are an interest of mine and I wonder if you could provide some background on it?

Hmmm perhaps it was from a single National Lampoon mag issue that I picked up years ago, must've been from '72 - '75, if I recall correctly.
