They are strong.I have always liked the rockcrusher covers. It takes alot to crack one. My buddy is running the BTF cover, and he has backed into many rocks with no issues at all. He bought the one already welded and says he would buy it that way again, and he is a welder by trade....it was worth the extra money.
The coever I posted is cast steel.
I never said it wasn't steel.

If you want a decent 44 cover on the cheap, find one of the thick steel stock covers used on the Scout II's. They can take a pretty good wumping and are still relatively light.
