Anyone on here ever make an individual throttle body efi setup for the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l or 4.0? Any recommendations on what ecu to use and what else I'd need? I was thinking that an intake could be made from cutting the gasket shape out of a piece of aluminum plate then welding runners off that for 6 throttle bodies. Maybe with one long oval shaped air cleaner. I suppose I could go with carbs but would like to check both my options.

A common throttle body for an efi setup would be the Rochester 220. Used with the GM p/n 1227747 ecm along with a lot of sensors. Howell Engine Developments does make an adapter for the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , not sure about adapting to the GM 151 . I have heard of guys machining their own out of a block of aluminum. Howell does do custom applications, you could check with them.

wow thats a lot of work. I think the individual throttle bodies on each cylinder is meant for wide open throttle applications. A Jeep spends most of its life near idle and needing torque not horsepower. I also recommend you check out Howell efi they make a great bolt in efi system using the old GM throttle body system which is what I want to go to on my Jeep. If you should decide to go with multiple throttle bodies do share it would be interesting to see.
