Interior Door Handles

Hi all - first post, I hope of many. Bought a 1984 CJ7 Laredo from a guy whose father apparently owned it since new. It's sat the last 16 years, so it needs a bit of TLC. I'm starting with some very small aesthetic projects, including my ability to close my doors. The door handle on the drive side was busted, so I went to Quadratec and 4wd.com and found these: https://www.quadratec.com/products/55014_09.htm. At first blush, I thought they were direct replacements. When they arrived and had nice little nickel plated end caps, I knew something wasn't write. When I tried to install them, the screw size was different. The length was different, and they just weren't going to fit.

Here's a picture of what's on the doors right now - looks OEM enough, but I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone provide any insight? I appreciate it. Would like to keep the OEM look, if I can, and not drill any new holes in my door cards!

These are what you're looking for. The problem is, at least as far as I know, no manufacturers make brown ones, and I've looked. If you want brown to match your interior you're going to have to paint new ones. That's what it looks like the PO of yours did, or you can scour eBay for Brown ones, the last set I saw on eBay were priced at $100, used OEM ones.

Damn. That's a total bummer. And here I thought CJ parts were pretty readily available. Kind of surprised that the brown ones are so rare, as I thought that cinnamon interior was fairly common. Do you know if these were Laredo only? Seems surprising that there wouldn't be more.

I checked out eBay this morning, and black black black is all I saw. Guess I'll keep looking. I am an OEM+ kinda guy...so brown really does it for me.

Yeah, anything other than black interior CJ parts are very difficult to find in aftermarket OE reproduction. Brown/spice/tan seats are pretty easy, but beyond that, any other parts are pretty rough to find, forget about factory red or blue parts, eBay or someone parting one out are about the only hope of finding some parts. I snagged 3 Brown handles years ago from people selling parts on craigslist, 2 of them are now ripped like yours, the rubbery plastic material gets really weak with time. I've thought about going with something sturdier, warrior products sells a metal handle, similar to the holy handle in front of the passenger and paint them to match, or wrap them in brown 550 cord.
