Lift Kits Intermediate cj5 lift/tires

Hello all,

I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with my worn out stock suspension on my ‘74 CJ5 . The look I think I’ve settled on is a small lift (2.5”) and slightly larger than stock tires, basically a stock look turned up 1 or 2 notches if that makes sense. I want to keep the classic jeep look so I want to stay with a narrow tire preferably on the stock rims. Anybody have any insight on good tire sizes for this application? Or some pics of a similar jeep? Thanks!

I don’t have a CJ5 . I have a CJ7 . Yours is probably narrow track axles. My Jeep is newer with wide track axles. I went for a 2 1/2 in lift and had no regrets. Factory tires were 235s. I went to 30 inch tires. Then later 31s x 9.5 x 15. I still have a set of those for riding around town. I also have a set of 33 x 10.5 x 15 for road trips. These various sizes all fit on my original 7 inch Jeep wheels.

I would probably start with 30s and maybe 31.

This was my 1972 2 1/2 lift 31 10.50 15 worked good for me. I did put 2 inch wheel spacers on it but did not have to have for fitment.
