CJ 7 8, had a Jeep years ago that I gave to my daughter for college. I have a Ford diesel dually F350 but its a gas hog for buzzing around ranch and feed store.
I want to post some pics of this Jeep and see if you guys can help me decide best path and whether I should bother with plan. Also would I be paying too much for this rig.

I spotted some rust and bubbles in the floor and side of wheel well that I started to clean out with my grinder. Very shortly I found crumbled metal and rust everywhere. The worst thing is that it looks like the back floor is being held together with Bondo. The motor is good, outside not bad. Is $3K too much for this condition? I am new so will try to post pics next.

A bondo repair is not a solid repair it is a band-aid. I would real close for other hidden band-aid fixes. I wouldnt pay that much for it. I found my 100% rust free CJ for not much more. Just need to be patient and look at a bunch before the right one shows itself. Welcome from Michigan

Not the best situation having bondo hiding everywhere, I would only consider it if it had a lot of other parts on it that you want and are willing to do the necessary body work maybe you can chew them down on the price

At the very least you need new rear floor and wheel wells. They can be bought easily enough. If the rear floor is bad how are the floor boards? They usually go first. Do you weld or are you interested in learning how.

Run away. Rust like that will run you $$$ to fix, either welding or a new tub. Frame will likely have rust too.

CJ7 's aren't THAT rare. Find one with little or no rust. That's a $1000 Jeep, and that $1000 would be for the parts you could remove to use on one that isn't rusted out.

The doors are not original to the Jeep either. They're off a 76-80 CJ

:agree: This exactly. Even if you planned to do a frame off build with a tub swap you can find a better candidate cheaper.

Hillbilly... I may be interested. Can you email me some pics and the details. Ill pm you my email address .
