I realized this yesterday as I was working with Adam over at Adam Brown Customs who is painting my jeep.

He found it for me this last summer... He knew of a guy who had a one owner bone stock CJ7 that was rust free. The guy had it in a building awaiting a build for himself, but had recently changed his mind. He never transferred the title so it went directly to me. He is a bit of a jeep hoarder.

Anyway, Adam vouched for the jeep being sound... and I bought it on the spot. We got it started and Adam drove it 100 feet up and onto his trailer. We then drove back to Hickory and straight to his shop where it has been waiting until about a month ago when he started work.

So we are working on the jeep yesterday and I looked over at him and said, "Hell, I've never even driven this jeep!" He looked back from bolting on the valve cover and said, "Yeah, but you are going to love your first ride!"

Anyway, it looks like Saturday might be that first drive. My birthday is Sunday and has become the goal.

I'm gettin' itchy...

Anyone else never driven their CJ?

Bought mine December 1996. Didn't drive it until September 2016.

Yeah.... It's a good feeling.

Currently still in Kentucky getting torn down this week...haven't driven it since 2007

The one I just got wasn't running because of a wiped out cam gear. So we pushed it out of his garage hooked it up to my truck with the tow bar that was on it and towed it to my garage and pushed it into mine. I have it tore down and the parts to fix it just need some warmer temps to get it back together. can't wait to be able to drive it.

I'm in the process of buying a '79 CJ5 . Seller agreed to take payments from this poor old cripple, but I don't get the Jeep until Jan. He drove it on the test drive just to show me everything worked.

I also, have never driven my CJ. Good thing is that as soon as I take delivery, I'll be able to go for a spin. Probably won't want to go far in Northern Indiana January with no top or doors, but I'm taking that drive.

Generally, my Jeep sits from Nov. to May. I have been fighting Mid-Atlantic salt spray all my life so why continue the agony. Also, my greatest joy in my jeep is driving with no doors or sides. I guess I am saying that I can identify to an extent. That first day in the spring where it is warm enough to loose the doors and sides and feel the warm breeze as I travel down a back road is a wonderful feeling. Kind of like letting a horse out to pasture.

I've always bought jeeps i can test drive before I buy so you will be experiencing something I never did. Enjoy my friend, welcome to a whole new driving experience.
