Jeep CJ Torx bolts/screws

[Duhwhat]

Why are these things so hard to find? I need 6 for the roll bar and 2 for the seat belts that were in bad shape and can't find a replacement anywhere. I don't really know the specs on them, but have read they are grade 8...

Anybody have a source for these things?

what are the seat belt bolt lengths that you need? location?
The roll bar attaching bolts should be all the same bolt/length length ?

I will have to dig through my box that I put everything in when I tore it down. Hang in there with me and I will get the info. I honestly thought they were all the same including the ones that held the seat down.

Found it. 1 1/8 th inch from the bottom of the head.

I found that site today, but couldn't answer all the questions, none of which said 'jeep CJ7 ' or grade 8.

If you know what I want, I would gladly follow your counsel.

for what its worth. If you are determined to use Torx,for god knows what reason, I would use the "Alloy steel" hardware from there I would spend some time in this site researching head style and deciding on diameter and thread pitch.
I would use cadmium plated grade 5 hex head, but thats just me.

I don't have a problem using hex bolts.

Holy cow I needed some myself, went to website and $95.44/10 not inc shipping. I'll go to the hardware store and buy hexheads

LOL. I threw all the torx heads away and replaced them with either hex or socket heads of the appropriate grade.

It sounds like I should have kept them and put them on e-bay.

Torx is a love hate kind of thing, I don't know of any one but Jeep that used them for anything but seat belt bolts and they are at very best a royal PITA. Allen wrenches DO NOT WORK and a cheep Torx driver is as bad as no driver at all. I have twisted cheep drivers 90 degrees and broken others like match sticks.
Home despot sells button head, Allen head bolts in stainless steel, not the strongest thing going, depends what you are doing.

If it were me i would probably go to a local Fastenal, they usually have most of everything and if the dont they can order it.

Besdies my windshield bolts, ive replaced all my Torx bolts with either Grade 8 or 5 socket heads. only reason i havent changed the windshield ones are because there stripped out from trying to change them!! haha
