First, I did not know if this is the right place for this thread.
The moderator can move it to the Right Place if needed.

Now All my other Travel/Exploring/Off Roading vehicles have CB radios.
At Off Road Parks, and traveling in a group, two way radios are a Must Have.

With Jeep Soup going on this Transmission Wisconsin Adventure Trail
Rallye come June, I wanted to put a CB in it.
First, I didn't want to mount it to the Dash, or anywhere to take away from the old military Jeep looks.
Second, Jeep Soup still has the Original 6 volt electrical system.

After a couple of Leines Long Necks in the Thinking Chair out in the shop, the Idea came to me.
(Thinking Chair is a Just about ready to set out at the curb Lazy Boy)

Make a Portable Radio case.

I like it!

A lot of momentum towards GMRS and even the high wattage version radios these days.
Much better in every way.

Have recently experienced a moose hunt in CO and a couple wheeling events with a pair of GMRS.
Have to say that although it’s still line of site, GMRS is better.

Yes, GMRS is the Latest Upgrade.
I looked into it briefly, and I think you have to Apply for a License or Register them.
But I had this old CB radio that fits in a "Tall 50 Cal" ammo can.
And I wasn't planning on buying 4-5 new GMRS radios.

As I'm an Amateur Radio Operator with a General license I'm inclined to use 10 meters rather than CB's 11 with very Limited power, but that's just me. I still have a Uniden Pro538 XLW with a 250 watt brick, but since getting certified it's been in the wings.

It is just to Contact others in the Group. "Everyone Stay Together....
Nobody let go of the String !!
Have a Trail Buddy...."
Don't really need
"Radio Free Area BFE !!"

BUT Thank You for your input.

I got a small portable GMRS a couple of years ago. Very low watt and from what I’ve read they don’t need a license.
