Body Joining quarter panel and body

I apologize if this has been answered, I can’t find it. My CJ tub is almost done with repair and paint. My quarter panels are done as is my grill. When I assemble, I do not want to bolt metal to metal, but not sure what (if anything) originally came between these parts. Is there a rubber strip or some sort of pliable material I should install between body panels? Thank you.

No. Factory is without anything in between.

Yep, as stated. No insulation. Bolt em and lock em down.
