Just picked up a new CJ5

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums here. I just picked up a new CJ5 74' Jeep and I was wondering what motor came in this. I'm not sure if the guy before swapped the motor or not. Pictures are below. Thanks.

Welcome bbinion1 to the site. Lot's of great people here with lot's of knowledge to pass along. You have a AMC V-8, most likely a AMC 304 cid they came in the CJ5 as an engine option. You can tell a AMC V-8 by the way the distributor is in the front on an angle like you have. Your engine stamp AMC 304 should be on the side of your engine block also. Hope this helps.

Just to add on to this that is an Amc motor and whatever number is embossed on the side of the block will be the engine size. AMC 304 , 360, 401.

Its pretty big about 2 inches high Id estimate. You should see it no problem. Been awhile since I had the V-8 and I cant remember wich side or if it was both. It should be easy to spot though.

Cool man thanks...has anyone ever done a power steering upgrade to one of these? How hard would that be to install?

The displacement is cast into the block of the AMC - V8 below the motor mounts.
