Laredo Fog Light Upgrade

I have a '85 Laredo with the stock 55w fog lights. I would like to keep the the lights but upgrade the bulbs. I would like brighter lights - thats the goal. Help me if you can, are the factory bulbs halogen? What does the different number delineations mean for halogen bulbs(H3, H5, H7) and does a higher number mean a brighter bulb? I know LED is an option but not sure I want to go that expensive. What have you guys done? I so appreciate the wealth of knowledge that this forum carries!!!

Higher wattage can also mean more heat and current draw. Is your OEM wiring up to it?

The information Lumpy gave you is an awesome reference. The number can refer to style of plug and brightness. You might also want to look into some of the latest LED light bulbs for fog lights. Don't go cheep here or you'll be disappointed. They still produce heat, just not as much.
