I went to "SMILEYS RACING" today and was told that It is a 500.00 fine for using chains as tie downs on the car hauler trailer.
That all four corners of the JEEP must be strapped down to comply ...
What yall think ??? Ever heard of this law (TEXAS)

Probably varies by state, but I always use straps anyway.

I always use 4 10,000 lb. straps. Although chains are legal here in ohio as long as they are a certain rate. (not sure what rating though) I had a buddy get a ticket for using the wrong chains.

Always use tens at each corner. Don't want the CJ flying forward when I have to lock up the trailer brakes and my brakes! :) Panic stops suck! Having a good proportional e-brake really helps though! :)

Best proportional system I have ever found - works great!

you got that right, I would never think of towing it without trailer brakes,
I like my adjustable controller so I'm not locking up the trailer brakes on the gravel. Just have to remember to reset it when I hit the hard top.:D

You know it, stop and set the bias for blacktop or for loose dirt / gravel. Either way, I will never tow without properly adjusted brakes.

I can stop as fast without the trailer as with it (well within a few feet). Now - how do I port my ABS to the trailer!

Tow trucks use chains

That sounds like BS to me, Commercial carriers use chain and specific auto haul chains are manufactured, I agree with others that straps are less harsh on your load but being requirred I doubt it.
You are a little different in TX though than the rest.;)
