little black box!!!

theres a little black box dangling with wires runnin to it under the drivers dash that clicks on and off when i turn the jeep off. and now my battery is dead! what is that box!!!????

If its hooked to the wipers it could be the wiper relay or signal flasher.Can you trace the wires back to a place of origin.Is it a plugin box that you could pull it out and see if your battery stays up or it keeps something else from functioning.There's some articles in the DOC sections here that could help you.
Maybe someone with a 84 might know also.My 83 didn't have anything like what your describing.

If it was in a plane I'd say it was the voice recorder lol

It could be the buzzer letting you know keys still in ignition

if i had my guess things like that are usually whats left of a cheap <-BAD WORD-> security system. does it look modern? (newer lookin plastic, bright shiny wires) if so i'd say thats what it is. get you a jeep wiring diagram and see if you can trace what its hooked up to, that'll tell you what it is.

My '84 has nothing like that.

Maybe it's a government tracking device

hope its not some kinda tracking device from an old girlfriend !!!

o and on the other side it has a white sticker that says "do not break seal"
and of course some dummy before me broke the seal

I highly doubt it. Can't be sure without a wiring diagram. I would look for the bracket that it mounts in and reattach it.

Its draining his battery.I had it on mine and it did the same thing.They put it in a place where water can get if the top is down.If it was like mine it sets in a compartment screwed to the dash where water can settle.

So it fills when wet? As you said - flip it so the wires are down.

By that time its pretty much shot.It was just one of AMC's bad ideas.
