As the title says, I’m looking for a new seal for the lid on my air filter assembly. Here are a few pictures. The seal is on the inside. Looks like it is about 1/2 inch wide. 9DAAD08F-799C-4789-A0F6-16815F026458.jpeg133BCB4F-6713-4549-AB6A-3536049CFC9D.jpeg1081838C-ABFB-487A-ADD9-DFA52AA25133.jpeg

Couple more. 655F5E43-EECD-408A-8CCC-245EB1A52A73.jpegCDAF9730-0504-445F-BA5F-D441C97519F5.jpeg799939CB-4830-49E4-ABAC-77AFB0EAB270.jpeg890C5E3D-A349-4815-BB30-3D37F426723D.jpeg

Here is a generic cut-to-fit gasket: Steel Rubber Products

This is also a great product that could be used for this: Amazon Link

This shows for a Ford, but should work for any: Ford Gasket

I also have seen someone use the seal from the lid of a 5-gallon bucket that seems to fit perfectly.

Wow ! Thanks TSB8C. I should be able to find something that works with all those suggestions. I have a bucket lid so I will try that first just for the heck of it.

Just tried the bucket lid on. If that was all I had, I probably could make it work. Don’t want to remove the old one yet. Need to make it last for my next trip, going to be a sandy environment, so I will look more into it after getting back.

Well I went with the 2nd suggested item by TSB8C. The amazon link. Probably the easiest to order also. Came with enough to screw it up 3 times and get it right the 4th time and piece it together on the fifth try. I did it on the 1st. Very forgiving to work with. I fitted it together the first time then removed it and started over sticking it on and slowly removing the backing tape as I went. I had to pull a couple sections out a couple of times maybe an inch but didn’t cause any problems. This seems like a very good replacement. Maybe a thousandth or 2 thicker than needed but no complaints. The original collapsed some over 40 years of use anyway. Picture with old removed and new installed. 4C486CA3-4794-4B5C-988E-0CFF69DCAEB5.jpeg29A04662-2CE2-43A2-9F87-7AB0EE884635.jpeg

I ended up taking a fresh piece since I had plenty, and cutting a little bit of the height off, maybe a 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch off. Much better I think now. I have a very sharp pair of scissors so that was very easy with this rubber material. I probably could have used the original, because it came back off without tearing. It sticks very well so that’s a good thing with this material also. B7BFE9AB-93E8-4FE5-A7D2-677A1B3737FB.jpeg

They weren’t to expensive at HD, but they are sharp as heck. Take a finger right off in a flash

No thanks. I had a friend who had an extra digit between I guess fore finger and thumb. Would have made quick work out of that.
