I'm swapping an LQ9 6.0 into my 84 CJ7 . Prior to picking up the engine I installed an in tank pump followed by a regulator with return to the tank. After getting the motor I found it has an integrated factory regulator.

So here's my question: Can I simply block off the factory return line or does it have to be ran back to the tank; and if so, should I remove the after-market regulator? Thanks for any advice.

You don't need two regulators.
I believe it depends on the year. Early engines had a 3/8" feed and 5/16" return later years had a 3/8" feed line with no return line (returnless).

That sounds correct. Think I can leave my setup as it is and block off the 5/16 return line at the engine?

Just a quick follow up to this post. I did block off the factory return line at the factory regulator and am running a separate regulator at the fuel tank and it works just fine for anyone with a similar issue.

Have you completed the swap? I am putting the same combo in my rig and can't wait. Wondering if you learned anything in the process that you wish you would have known or thought of when you started.

What type of in tank pump setup did you use out of curiosity? Also, what kind of radiator did you use? Electric or engine driven cooling fan? We need details!
