Picked up a Vacuum Booster and master brake cylinder from a power brake equipped CJ for my 1979 CJ AMC 304 with GM Turbo 400 Transmission with manual brakes. The only thing I'm missing is the hose, plastic fitting ( that goes into the booster) and check valve. Where in the heck can I find this? Please help. I want to get this done!.....appreciate any info....

Did you check the local supply house? It seems I have bought one of these before. It is a check valve and I don't think there is anything special about it.:D

Are we talking about vacuum hose pcv valve and fitting for booster?? Or am I thinking of newer booster systems?

I couldn't find one online at " Auto Zone" or "Advance Auto Parts" for the 1979 CJ AMC 304

I am sorry my remark about pcv valve is wrong that's not what you need
But I am thinking your best net us to drive up to your local parts store with your parts find an old guy working there and see what kind of parts he has for you

FYI most part stores have draws and bins of small parts that you can shuffle through
Also have them check there computer for check valves there computers sometimes pull stuff up you can't find on their website

If you give me more info on what the booster came off of and some pictures I can probably get you part numbers from O'rielly

So item #25 goes into the booster and is the check valve also?....do you still need the grommet #26?

Yep, it's also the check valve. Getting the grommet wouldn't be a bad idea, as the one that may or may not be there is likely dry rotted.

Didn't even think about the Help aisle. Most auto parts stores have their "Help!" section, all the parts there have a red logo similar to the one on this page that have all sorts of little odds and ends as dirtybird stated. You'll likely find one there, and it will probably fit. i'd just measure the ID of the hole in your booster to make sure it will fit with the grommet. Might even be cheaper than ordering from Quadratec.

And the hose is just a standard hps you can buy by the foot from the back of most part stores

Sounds good.... hose goes to intake manifold?......back of carb is taken by pcv valve unless I get a tee fitting?....

I know four barrel carbs have fitting in front and back not sure about yours
Also I don't know about how the pcv valve is attached but I bet a trip to the local hardware store oils get you the fittings you need to make a tee for pcv valve and hose barb for booster vacuum line

I got my power brakes completed. I ran the booster hose in back of the carb into the intake manifold . Just had to get a new fitting as suggested. Only issues I have now is the brake lights are on constantly and the brake pedal itself is lower toward the firewall. I see the brake switch is all the way out. What is the best way to solve this? Also how do I get the brake pedal to come back toward the seat some? Appreciate any input.....

I believe your brake switch is in front of pedal so when we fix the pedal that should fix the switch we just need to figure it how to get your pedal away from the firewall as always pictures help

Will your pedal pull out and touch the brake switch if you teach down and pull on it?

Is the rod that connects the pedal to the booster adjustable?? If not, you need one that does or maybe a longer one.:D
