I need a master cylinder rebuild kit for the restoration of my dads 68 CJ5 . This is the dual reservoir master cylinder mounted on the frame beneath the floor. I cannot find one anywhere and ive had too much trouble with new and reman master cylinders. Anyone know where i can get a kit?

Thanks!

Try Orielly's. It won't be i their computer youll have to get someone to look it up in a catalog.

I did give them a try. 45 minutes of standing there arguing with them about how mine is a DUAL resevoir, not a single. Apparently I have no idea what I have...and apparently jeeps never had frame mounted pedals...

Would you happen to have a part number I can give them?

thanks for the link, but they only show a kit for the single reservoir....

and actually calling them got me nowhere

Call Herm the Overdrive guy
the 68 came with a single stage unit so you may have to identify what you have under there and rebuild it
Herm does sell a 2 stage kit
and he would know more about the original one from a 68

this one had a factory dual master cylinder. Dad has owned it since the mid 70s. He never changed it. All the lines even appear to be factory.

He said 10 years ago he had to rebuild it and just got a kit at napa. now they dont exist...

Do you have any contact info for Herm?

I think he is in our link section, or just do a internet search for herm the Overdrive guy, he is in Washington state somewhere, great guy to do business with
I thought they changed the MC in 1970, I know my 67 is a single and my 70 is a dual. I could be wrong about the year they changed. anyway Herm does make a kit with a newer style Ford MC you can put under there so you can get parts for it. I find a lot of stuff I change on the old ones id just so I can continue buying repair parts. It is like, humm if that ever goes bad again I think I can get parts for this one, ok I will change it.:rolleyes::cool:
