yes.

about a 1/16" plastic line. be careful how you run it so it does not chafe on the hole in the firewall, a rubber grommet is a good idea.

So I guess my next question is why go through the trouble? If the existing wiring is bad you could just run a brand new wire directly from the sensor to the gauge. It would save you a lot of time and you wouldn't have the possibility of it rupturing.

I see it as a case of accuracy and dependability. Other than that it is just personal preference.

My oil gauge is mechanical and was on when I bought the used 83 CJ5 , I just ordered a mechanical kit for water temp and will make a report when I get it on.

I am looking for mechanical sending unit kits for both my oil pressure and temperature gauges. I currently have electrical sending units and neither are working. I figured that since I need to replace them I will go mechanical. What are you guys using and where did you get them? The jeep is a '84 CJ7 . Thanks.

when you get the oil gauge i would suggest getting the copper line its 15 bux more.....i had a plastic line bust not good, i didnt cut the new copper line. its really small and hard to cut, so i coiled it neatly under the dash.
