I have a Jeep 85 Wagoneer 4x4 with a 2.8 GM moter in it. The motor is actually a 85 S-10 Blazer running gear and it came that way from the factory. In 2000 I replaced the motor with a low milage 93 2.8. I changed it back to the carb system and had to change water pump and every thing else that came with the 85 and it started to vibe from the motor. Not bad but noticeable.
I drove it about 4 months and the vibe went away. Within 3 months after that the flywheel broke.
About 3 mo ago I decided to pull it out of storage and put another flywheel in it. It still had that slight vibe from 800-1000 rpms and then would quit. Several days ago it broke again.
I also used the 85 Harmonic Balancer. Could that be the problem.
In other words does all the 2.8 balance the same way, or could the Balancer be bad?
