Looking for some help...My search efforts came up empty.

I've spent the last couple of days cleaning up & repairing ALL the electrical and lighting on my new to me CJ. The only thing left is to hook up the horn. I found the black horn wire in the engine bay wrapped around a hose. I removed the rubber horn button and all the parts are there but the black wire is cut short. I plan to run a new wire but how does the wire exit the steering column?

Stock steering wheel & steering column with a clamp on Spartan turn signal housing.

Thank you in advance!

Looking at the wiring schematic in a Hayne's CJ manual for an early CJ with the 225, it shows the wire coming from the horn button going to the horn and the other wire to the horn comes from the light switch.

Thanks for the reply.

The wiring isn't the issue...The wires to the horn are present. The black wire between the horn and the horn button is cut. I need to figure out how to fish the wire through the steering column. I found an exploded view online line but it's hard to see how the wire exits the column...I'm hoping someone here can shed some light.

Thank you.

edit:
I just found this diagram...I have an upgraded power steering box that's not compatible for stock horn wiring. I guess I'll have install a horn button on the dash.

That is a good diagram, I would have to agree with the button plan. Good luck with what you can come up with.

if you can see the wire just attach the new wire to the old one and use it to fish the new wire thru the steering column.

But with a Saginaw box, that wire will just be exiting at the column bottom U-joint and it will not last long even if one managed to hook it up. A button switch is the cheapest alternative and it could be mounted on the column.

Another reason to install a tilt column---

Putting the horn button on the dash is not a solution.Aquire a column from a '72 -75 CJ5 and use the steering shaft and the upper housing with the horn wire pickup or get a horn wire pickup and cut your own square hole in your exsisting column. Been there done that easy fix. :) mike

Any pix of what you did?
