So I sold my 83 CJ7 a couple months ago, because it just wasn't what I really wanted. Well I just recently picked up something much better. 1977 CJ5 Golden Eagle , unverified but seems to be a 1 of 2,000 in California only Limited Edition version. Got I for a super screaming deal that I couldn't pass up. Yes, H code as well. But it has a 360 in it instead of the AMC 304 , a ford T-18 in it, and the Dana 20 . Definitely needs love, but it'll get there. Yes, it's paint code 7E as well.

Going from a 7 to a 5 sounds like an adventurous decision. However, that 5 looks in great shape from the images. The drivetrain you mentioned is great. Tell us what axle gear ratio you got and plans.

Well I haven't checked the gears yet. I plan on wide trac width and 35s with 4.88 though. And my 7 was comp cut, and I couldn't find a decent enough solid tub to replace it with, or full widths and 37s to go with the comp cut so I sold it.

Competition cut out fenders. Unless it's on full width axles and, say, 37s, it doesn't look that nice.

Got her home and moving along slowly. And she's started and ran for a couple tries. I put a 2150 carburetor on but need to get the timing right. Doesn't idle yet.
