My odometer broke

Is the odometer tied into the spedometer cable? My odometer broke and don't know if i need to replace the cable?

- 1984 CJ-8 Restomod Scout axles 4 wheel disks, 258, ax15, D300.
The tach thinks you have a four cylinder i would bet. Aftermarket units have a dip switch to adjust this but i dont know about the stock models.

It has 3 settings for each size engine. It's set on 6 cyl. Any other suggestions?

What brand is your tach? How is it wired? To the minus side of the coil?
Is the ignition stock? You don't have an MSD ignition do you? The tach should count sparks and divide that by the dip switch setting for how many cylinders you have. An MSD and other after-market ignitions will give multiple sparks so the tach needs to be wired differently.

The MSD ignition has puts out multiple sparks during each cycle. MSD stands for Multiple Spark Discharge. Most tachs connect up to the coil. With a MSD ignition you can't connect the tach to the coil. You should have a separate wire out of the MSD ignition module for the tach. It should be a gray wire if it wasn't cut off during installation.

New speedo gauge not reading correctly
Had after market radio put in and after the temp gauge didn't work. Had to replace speedo gauge and now fuel gauge reads half and temp not at all. Do I need a new fuel sender? Does it give power to temp? Just a thought. Temp sender is working fine.

An ignition wire (12 volts) connects to the fuel guage, the fuel guage has a regulator in it and only sends around 5 volts to the temp guage via a jumper strap. (small wire). The sending unit doesn't supply power. Whomever put the radio in may have hooked something up wrong which has affected your gauges. Not sure.

Can I just run a wire from the fuse to the fuel gauge? I have a FB body and the wiring is SOOO jacked up. Grounds are good but one wire is coming out of fuse box now that powers all the gauges. It's a mess.
