I installed a Napa mastercylinder/booster combo in my 85 7. Brake fluid is blowing out around the cap seal. Is there any way to stop this? New seal maybe? Don't want to buy another NAPA seal for it to do this again.

Is it "Blowing out" or just leaking? I had a leaky one awhile back and it was cured by tighting down on the spring clamp which helped a bit and had to purchase a rebuilt master just for the gasket because I could not find one. The master that I bought was returned for the core which wasn't much but still a pain.

So now you should determine whether it is the gasket or either mating surfaces or not enough clamping pressure.

:agree:

I'm not happy unless I need a tool to unclamp mine...but that's just me...:D

If it's BLOWING out its pressurized. Master cylinders should have a flexible gasket that makes up for changes in fluid levels. Are you over filling the reservoir?

Blowing out, Going to crawl under it this evening and check the front calipers to see if they are functioning( if I can get my pedal pusher out of the house in this cold weather) Could a bad proportioning valve cause this? or maybe got a bad reman master cylinder.

take it back....

Solved the problem, Installed a NEW master cylinder and took the reman out of service. That reman won't cause any body else a problem.:chug: Jeep back driveable and going forward with rebuild instead of backwards.

Thanks for the update Munypit. Some of these outfits that do reman work do it as cheaply as possible.
