have a CJ7 in good shape cosmetically. no rust on frame as jeep was stripped down and rebuilt from frame up. last winter blew the AMC 304 v8. i have a T-18 tranny, Dana 20 Transfer Case .

i am hesitant to buy a used AMC 304 as it seems like you don't know what you are getting. anyone have any insight into either replacing a AMC 304 or using another engine like the chrysler 360 to put in my jeep. it also has a dana 60 rear..very powerful jeep..so i want to get it back on the road asap...thanks

BUILD IT! PRICE WISE IS LIKE BUILDING A FORD ENGINE VS A CHEVY ENGINE...KINDA PRICEY BUT AS U KNOW AN AMC IS FORD AND CHEVY IN ONE....DISTRIBUTOR IN FRONT W CHEVY FIRING ORDER....ENGINES BUILT FOR TORQUE SO DONT TRY N PORT HEADS. A TORQUER INTAKE AN OVERKILL SO TRY AN RPM INTAKE INSTEAD....IT WK FOR ME....THROTTLE WAS CRISP N SNAPPY W HOLLY ON TOP BUT CHANGE ADV IN DISTRIBUTOR TO RED SPRINGS N CHANGE JETS SO EQUIV TO THE 500CFM CARB CAME FACTORY....THINK IT WAS 67 JETS:drool:
