New Engine Recommendations

Hey everyone. I might have to start looking for a replacement engine soon. I currently have a stock AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l IL6 and stock Transmission . on an 85 CJ7 . How much would a replacement (maybe already rebuilt) 258 cost? What else could I throw in there that would marry up to the stock trans? Thanks for the help.

Any AMC motor AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ,AMC 304 ,360 or the 401

You can still go to the junkyards and find running AMC 360s out of Wagoneers for a good price and its not a hard swap. I did a quick search and found these guys, their price seems about average jeep engine 4.2 L6 ,258,83-87
also Quadratec and 4wd sell stroker 258s and 4.0s
