I just read this whole thread and i think 42's on a CJ5 is awesome. To clear them tho and do it right you'd need SOA with lift springs and new axles and maybe a body lift.
 
I would say that you might want to find a way to make it longer as well as making it wider to accomodate those tires.

If you want it to stay stockish looking, you will most likely have to sacrifice suspension travel.
 
WOW Sasquach!!. I am impressed that you have not broekn down laughing so far, or at least not displayed it. Someone on here had posted a pic of the shackles you are looking for, although they are not boxed. I can't even remember the topic that it was in, but I think it had a rear view of a mud Jeep with at least 8 inch shackles.

As for the scary steering link, all I can say is there should be more Darwin awards handed out. :chug:
