Recently picked this up from a co-worker. Been looking for one for a long time and everything finally aligned. 1981 CJ7 Renegade , AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , automatic Transmission ., almost everything is stock and original. Not sure what lift is on it yet, still searching.

More pictures! Been working on it here and there. It ran good when i got it and I drive it most days. I have been replacing/servicing things a little at a time.

Looks like it’s a good starting point. Hopefully solid underneath. That front bumper is no joke!

Underneath looks pretty solid. Probably due for some new shocks. Kind of having a love hate relationship with that bumper. Lol Been working on fixing whatever a previous owner was doing to the front fenders. Going to get them back to original color.

The winch cables look suspicious, beneath the front cross member.
Be advised on those healthy wheel spacers it looks like it has. Check the attaching nuts often.

According to the PO there are no wheel spacers on it. I haven't taken the wheels off yet, probably should do that. Winch cables definitely need to be rerouted. Fuel tank was new along with aluminum radiator. I have replaced fuel sending, all questionable fuel lines, water pump, thermostat and housing, rebuilt the weber 38/38 and reduced idle jet size to 50s. Next up is differential service. It runs great and I can drive it with one finger.

I stand corrected. Those are some healthy wheel spacers. Lol Front drive shaft was being rebuilt when that picture was taken. It has been installed since then.

Like Said, that is a Massive Front N
Bumber and a Oversized Winch.
It is going to seriously effect your Approach Angle when Off Roading.

My Off Roading Rig is a Samurai I call the Timber Cruiser. I Don't have a Permanent Mounted Winch. I have a 6,000 lb winch on a 2 inch receiver bracket and a 2" receiver front and rear. It is securely stowed in the rear area.
Now I can get my <-BAD WORD-> out of a Bad Situation from either end.

And why only a 6,000 lb winch?
First, it's lighter and doesn't take Two Men and a Boy to set it up.
Second.......
I ONLY Have to Get ME OUT!
Not your Family Sized Rubicon!!

Rule of Winch size. Double the Weight of the Object being towed. So I'm right there at 6,000 lbs
The Timber Cruiser weighs it at 2,800 lbs with trail gear and my
Beer Goiter in it........
