Hi Guys,

I recently installed a new rebuilt mc2100 carb on my AMC 304 V8.
I am having an issue with the first cold start of the day, The Jeep will start right up and idle fine for a few seconds and then start to idle rough for a couple minutes, and then the fast idle kicks in and it is fine after that, runs awesome all day long.
I have replaced all the vac lines with new hoses, new fuel pump, filter and hoses, I don't have a vac leak, is my choke not set correctly?
Choke thermostat housing is 2 points on the lean side

Any suggestions:confused:

I would say choke may be sticking.. or the linkage is binding.. Or... It may be opening to quickly which is causing it to run like :dung: until it warms up.

The fast idle just doesn't "kick" in. The fast idle is set by the choke.

A lot of people don't know the starting procedure for a carb.

1. Step on the gas pedal all the way. This sets the choke (full closed) and places the fast idle screw on the first step of the fast idle cam.

2. Crank the engine. When it starts, the choke pull-off is activated, by vacuum, and opens the choke a bit. Step on the gas pedal again, and this drops the fast idle screw down to the second step of the fast idle cam. The correct spot is indicated by a "v" stamped onto the fast idle cam.

3. When the choke gets warm, it will move the fast idle screw off of the cam.
