Hi everyone,

I'm thinking this is going to be a long shot, but.....

From what I found in researching my gas cap and keys, I have what appears to be Stant brand push in locking vented gas cap that I'm trying to find a NOS replacement.

Due to not being able to find a part number or anything on it I picked up a G780 from Ebay, unfortunately it is just a smidge too large of diameter for the filler neck on my jeep. The diameter of the existing cap is 1.3"

I'm hoping either someone here has an insane knowledge chart of Stant gas caps, or compatible manufacturers. In my poking around I did find that the G780 is sold under a number of different model numbers / manufacturer names and I'm expecting that whatever model my sized cap actually is, will be the follow that as well.

I could be wrong on thinking I have a vented vs. non vented and if I am, please do not hesitate to correct me.

The foam ring has ripped about 2/3 the way around the cap, that's why I'm looking to replace it.

The Stant #G705 looks to be the right one for an earlier CJ5 like your '74. (not early enough with the tank under the seat) The Motorad #15682-05392004 looks to be a replacement/option for this. I thought the gas cap was different starting in about '76 and up.

I greatly thank you for this model number info. Now to search out the locking version. From what I found it looks like the G705 is a non-locking cap.
I just looked at mine which is in a drawer, probably 15 years since it was on and there is no writing and 40 years old. Surprisingly the foam is on. Key where a name would be is smooth now.
