I have a CJ5 that’s stamped 8305 178180 does anyone know what year it is?

I think that’s the VIN. It’s on a plate on the firewall & passenger side of frame.

Ah. You have an older model (pre-1971) with a serial number rather than a traditional VIN. The first 4-digit number ("8305") refers to a CJ5 (the "83" part) and the "05" is the Body Type, where "05" means an "Open Body". The next digits, "178180", are the serial number. I believe you have a 1965 year model, made in Sep of 1964.
