Hey, I have a AMC 304 V8 which, overall, runs good but I am not sure what the oil pressure should be once it has warmed up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

From what I understand the jeep motors are notorious for low oil pressure. My AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l is around 20 at red lights and raises when I take off.

Ok, thanks. Thats pretty close to what I have, so I guess that is somewhat normal. Thanks for your help.

The problem with the AMC V8 is that the oil pump is located in the timing chain cover which is an aluminum product. Aluminum is a soft metal that tends to wear. The more wear the lower the oil pressure. Others may disagree but if you have 20 lbs at idle and 40 lbs at speed most likely things are OK.

My AMC 304 oil pressure is about 15 at idle and when it's cold it will hit 60 until it warms up. Warmed up it is between 15 to 40. I replaced my electric pressure gauge with a mechanical one. The electric one was all over the place.
