Well I did some checking on the internet and found this place /www.trailworthyfab.com they have hummer rims that they mod for any bolt pattern you want for 100 each includes rim. They also have used hummer tires 37x12.50-16.5 with 90% or better tread left for $75 each. I figure I can get rims and tires cheaper than just tires. Also going to run a RRO SOA kit and 2" body lift and a set of tube front and rear fenders, a set of dana's 44's with 4.27 gears. Also a 350 sbc with a turbo 350 Transmission . I think this set up will get me where I want to go.

Good luck with that rear driveshaft angle.

I figure with the Dana 44 swap he'll work out the driveshaft angle.
I looked into those exact wheels and tires and i would like to see
pic's as you do your buildup.

For got to put that I'm going to run a set of tom wood's drive shafts with CV's.

Tom makes a great product to be sure, but also expensive(I run one front & rear).
I was think more about the fact that with the automatic is long & the CJ5 is short. Your driveshaft will be very short & at a extreme angle so your CV joints will have short lives.;)

I have to agree toms stuff is expensive, and he spent years advertising to convince everyone he was the best.
but there are others just as good that are a lot cheaper.

If you extend your wheelbase by moving your rear spring mounts to the rear bumper & competition cutting your fenders. You could get away with it.
There with most likely be some clearance issues with your gas tank, probably have to go with a "Gen right" Extreme gas tank.
BTW who is RRO?

May also stay with the 4 speed in there now, but I was thinking an auto would be easier on the trails.

I love the granny gear 4 speeds.
The SM 420 has a 7 to 1 first gear ratio & is very short which is a good thing in a CJ5 , but any 4 speed is shorter than the slushbox.;)

I found a SM465 for 20 bucks in town and found some details on it.It has an overall length of 12². The 1st gear ratio is 6.58:1; 2nd 3.58:1; 3rd 1.57:1, and 4th gear ratio of 1:1. This Transmission was used in both the 2WD & 4WD vehicles. Thats pretty good grab for 20 bucks but back on to topic, Please Shepard read this before deciding to use RRO
