Ordered a new Dana 489 rear end

Ordered a new Dana 489 rear end
nice job. I need to look into this dana 489. Thank you for the post.

They never mentioned it. But I had already installed a new prop valve when I converted to power brakes a few years ago. The valve I got is made for either disc-drum or disc-disc and is working just fine after the conversion.
Now that you have had it installed and on the road for a while was it worth the expense? I don't like the AMC20 but to spend 3-4 grand instead well that would need a long thought. Dave

I have been very happy and pleased with the Dana 489. Now I don't do any hard-core rock climbing and such. So the added strength of this axle over the AMC20 has not really been tested in my rig. But the Powertrax "Grip Pro" carrier has been great. Not a true locker, but for me in the mud camping or deer hunting, great option. And of course the disc brakes are a huge difference. Have had no issues at all with any leaks, weird noises, or performance of any kind. In fact, I'm considering getting another 489 front version from them to replace the Dana 30 . I'm not having issues with mine, just thinking of having a 489 both front and back and having the Powertrax "Grip Pro" carrier in both ends.
