I've just about finished a Painless wiring installation on my 79 CJ5 . Everything works so far except the oil press gauge and the light switch. The dash lights don’t come on with the lights, but if I turn the light switch counterclockwise until it clicks the dash lights come on. Doesn’t the light switch work like the older Ford switches? Thanks

I did the painless kit on my 79, and the dash lights come on when the switch is pulled. I can't seem seem to figure out the oil pressure either. I realize i wasn't much help.

I am currently installing a painless kit in my 79 CJ7 as well, i cant seem to figure out the light switch either... but whats going on with the oil pressure? i had to upgrade my oil pressure sensor on my motor to fit the kit, but if i remember correctly the upgrade was only like $20-30 auto zone.

And would it possible for anyone to post a picture of how they setup their light switch?

cheers!:chug:

Mike

I see that you have a fiberglass dashboard. did you put a ground wire from the dash to the battery?
