The ocal scrap yard just got a yj that some one traded in as a clunker. im going to try to get the seats and brake booster off it for my CJ5 . Any thoughts on what else i could pull off of it besides the leaf springs?

For a 5 it is tough with the things like the tub, doors, etc.
Windshield would be good if it isn't rusted... it would have a sport roll bar possible or family cage if you wanted to modifiy it to your 5, which not a lot of poeple do, but is possible I suppose...

Other then that, if it was a fuel injected motor, maybe that... all depends on how much work you want to do ;)

If the tub is decent, let us know, I am sure someone could use it for their 7 at some point.

Not to hijack this thread but quick ?. will a YJ windshield work on a 76 CJ5 ?
and to keep it in the thread I would keep the power steering box as well.

I believe the defroster was set up different on the yj. Other than that I think they were the same as the 76-86 cj.

If it's a 4.0 and you have a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .
At a minimum grab the intake, head, exhaust manifold.
If you can grab the whole injection system.

But a 4.0 head swap is a cheap easy way to make power.

I dont know what engine is in it but according to the junk yard the engines have to be destroyed I guess they fill them up with some kind of liquid glass and start it up which locks up the whole motor. I will let you guys know how much they want for the tub though.

CFC vehicles cant have the frame, body or engine sold. Basically anything with a VIN or the engine itself. So the tub itself should be off limits...

Then ask him to "Lose" the VIN.... LOL!
Actually, seriously, if they drilled the rivets out of the vin tag, it is just a piece of metal at that point... a large piece of metal that looks like a Jeep tub, but if he doesn't give you the VIN, nor the papers with it, it is tough to determine what/where it was.

There are people out there that would like just the tub to make a trailer/woods crawler.
