Hello I recently purchased a 1985 Jeep CJ7 that had been modified with a AMC 304 AMC motor - Question is there is a hose hooked to a vac port on the back of the motorcraft 2150 carb that was connected to a port at the back of the manifold. The hose had a pcv valve midtream. The engine ran rough and would not idle on a cold start. I removed the hose from the carb and plugged the vac line on the carb and the engine smoothed out. This setup is unfamiliar to me as I am used to the hose and pcv valve being connected to the breather on the valve cover. Has anyone seen or heard of this setup and is it correct?

Related experienced comments and suggestions are appreciated

The PCV valve should be ran to vacuum. What you described, I'm pretty sure, was the same setup as I had on my Quadrajet. The CCV (on a 6cyl) will run to the air cleaner. That is return air. I want to say the CCV is provided from the oil cap filter on the AMC V8's.

Go to Google, then search "amc v8 pcv vacuum diagram" without the quotes, then click on Images at the top and you'll find what you need regarding this.
