Has anyone used one of these recently?

RT35004.

I had the OEM plastic one, which was leaking a bit, but nothing severe.

I'm doing a Howell install, so I ordered an RT via Amazon a while ago to clean things up, and just installed it today.

I used the stock 1/4 bolts on the passenger side, and the RT-supplied Allen-head bolts on the front and rear.

On the driver's side, I decided to use the 5 X washer-nuts from the plastic cover.

Unlike the OEM cover, the RT cover casting seems to have been trimmed, so these don't even make contact with the new cover.

There are only two bolt holes on the driver side of the cover, which line up with holes on my cylinder head seem to be 5/16, but not -18, which came with the kit.

Even if I tapped the hole to -18, there are only 2 holes on the driver side, which doesn't seem to be enough.

Anyone else have this problem?

The washer nuts sat quite nicely on this lip with the plastic cover.

Yeah 2 isn’t enough but that’s all they gave us. I use Allen head and I think it’s metric washers. :wtf: IMG_4762.webp IMG_4761.webp IMG_4760.webp

These valve cover hold down brackets work well on both sides. A little larger hole for the drivers side bolts.

I'm about to install a Clifford valve cover on my 85 to replace the plastic one. My driver side holes were all ready tapped in the head. Probably was done when the engine was rebuilt many many years ago. If you don't want to tap you could get a long piece of 1/4" square steel and lay that on the lip and use the shouldered nuts that held the plastic one on.

Where did you get that oil cap? Does it just pressure fit? Also, what gasket are you using?

Thanks, I saw that gasket mentioned in another thread. I need a gasket that is at least 3/16" to work with a Clifford valve cover. Was thinking either that one you mentioned or the Felpro,

Appreciate the help

I think that’s the one I installed in Dallas at a friends house on the way out to Moab. It worked pretty well. The problem was I had some engine problems 10 months later and had to go back and pull it off. :wtf: IMG_1548.webp
