Alright, I'm sure this has been posted ONE MILLION  times... but what is the factory way to run the PCV? Where do each of the hoses go? Photos will work great. I found some via google but many are different ... I'm just getting confused on where to run each of them. Any information would be great. Here is the way the P.O. (looks like poopie) had it ran...

The rear valve is a tee... One side was just taped off (doesn't seem right).

Your pic is just a red x but the PCV should go to a port at the bottem of your carb in the back.

I can see your pic now but as I said the hose from the PCV should go to a port at the base of the rear of your carb.

Your pcv does look like it is hooked up in the correct location and like mtnwhlr stated. The other hose from the top of the valve cover should go into the air filter. The way the system operates is the air enters the engine crankcase from the tube going from the air cleaner into the back of the valve cover and exits thru the one way valve or the pvc, into the intake manifold from the base of the carb taking the blow by with it. I like to remove that rear air inlet and install a breather cap that lets more air into the system. I some states that breather cap will not pass an emissions inspection. The Haynes Jeep CJ Manual does cover emissions systems for the various years of the CJ.

STG do you run with all the smog? you can loss the red hose and replace with a mini filter/ for cleaner look. :chug:

OK, for clarity... The rear hole will have a PCV Valve that has a hose that runs into the intake manifold. Now, for the front hole I am going to run a mini filter... but does it need a PCV Valve also?

The oem location for the pcv valve was in the front hole, and there is only one. I really don't think it matters which hole is used.

Don't be sorry thats why we all are here, to learn from each other.

you need one PVC front or rear what every you want or what works best or looks best same for the mini filter. front or rear dealers choice. but only one of each. take pic when done those always get better answers. good luck.
