Vehicle(s)
1985 Jeep CJ7 Renegade- IL6 -Mopar FI -Tremec 5 speed- Acme hard top- pretty much stock.
Here's the pic of my 1985 AMC Jeep CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l IL6 Mopar Fuelie. She's pretty much stock. She has the 4 Keystone Wagon Wheels.

I plan:

new shocks (KYB)
new tires 235/75 x 15
Used winch
CB
Possible paint but hate to destroy the original look. Shouldn't this have a Renegade decal on it?

I would appreciate any suggestions to improve it.

Sweetnes, that is one fine looking Cj, I love what California DOES NOT do to old jeeps.

Any chance we can get you to tell us what something like that costs these days out there ?

Collins Brothers is selling reproduction stickers, if you paint it and want to give it a factory appearance again. Somebody else might be selling the stickers too, its just the only place Ive come across them.

Ive got a 91 XJ 2-door that is from Costa Mesa, looks like your CJ, most of the paint is missing especially the roof, but not a spot of rust on it. We dont have any XJs left around here due to rust, its almost rare. Not to mention rust free Cjs, LOL...

Oh, and welcome to the site, too !

I searched hi and lo for many months for just the right one. I'd traveled up to two hours to look at some to be very disappointed to see some that were complete rust buckets or very Jeepified (overly built for severe off road crawling). Some were going for a minimum of 3000 (which was laughable cuz they were the rusty ones) to 8k or more depending on condition for the built ones.
When I saw this lowly stock one on Craigslist for 4900, I went to look at it since it was a few minutes from my house. It wasn't the looker that the real serious Jeepers have, but a modest daily driver that could hold it's own off road like a Jeep is expected to do.
When I saw it, I knew IMMEDIATELY that this thing was clean and in great shape compared to all the :dung: I had been exposed to before in my quest.
She drove well although very bouncy, just some very mild surface rust, and I could tell the po had taken care of it.
I offered 3700 and he kindly said that he would get his price eventually (he knew it), so I blinked and pulled out a wad of 100's and offered him 4K. He blinked too and accepted. It passed smog no problems and I since registered it. Mind you this California pricing, which sucks. I think at 3k it would have been a great deal. As it is, here in California, it was a good deal.
Now to tweak it a little!
