Plumbing a '84 258 intake

Our Jeep is running pretty good now with the later model aluminum intake and new exhaust manifold but... it takes forever to warm up. Right now we don't have the intake plumbed for water but we will soon. I think the challenge will be doing it without any kinks or sharp bends. Are there any suggestions?
Second, the intake has the "hedge hog" heater. Would this be beneficial to hook up? Judging from the wire coming off it it takes some serious juice.

I believe you are talking about the manifold heater, "Hedgehog is a good description. I would recommend hooking it up. There is also a relay for it. You will probably need a wiring schematic for an oem style installation but you could probably just hook something up on your own, maybe even an electric choke to go with it. I am sure the weather is a factor this time of year also. An fsm has info on it.

I'll get the part number of the hose and take a pic of what I did when I get home.

I can't remember where I got the hose, but it works really well, and it has the 90 degree turn you need.

Here is what I did on the intake side, and I used two pieces to do it.

That is a nice fitting setup you have there tinman, The oem connector wasn't nearly as good. I recall getting replacement hoses from N.A.P.A.

I couldn't find a stock elbow anywhere!

I should've taken the hose off before taking the pic, then you could see that its a two piece fitting. It has to be done that way because of how low it sits on that manifold, you can't get a one piece to screw in because it hits the upper part of the intake.

That's been our problem too. I found the straight fittings at Napa but would like to use a 90 degree to keep it clean. I think the fitting on my Ford might work so I may trry that.
